Mayor Tom Barrett addressed the citizens of Milwaukee in the annual State of the City address this Monday, February 26th. In the address, the mayor took time to applaud the redevelopment of the Westlawn neighborhood and to highlight the inspiring story of former HACM resident - and new homeowner - Alysia Mullins (shown above with HACM Secretary-Executive Director Tony Pérez). Choice Neighborhood Designated a "Best Babies Zone"
Members of the Westlawn Best Babies Zone (BBZ) coalition traveled to the national BBZ conference in Oakland, CA in January. BBZ is an innovative, multi-sector approach to reducing infant mortality and racial disparities in birth outcomes.

Mayor's Walk and Neighborhood Block Party
On Tuesday, August 22, residents joined Mayor Tom Barrett, Alderman Cavalier Johnson, and Tiffany Henry from Senator Tammy Baldwin's office in the Mayor's 100 miles in 100 Days Challenge! The two-mile walk took residents from Westlawn Garden's Heritage Green to McGovern Park, helping to make a connection between two of the area's premier park spaces.

Prior to the walk, a block party will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Westlawn Gardens.
