Wonderfully Wild Wednesdays at MPL Express
The Milwaukee Public Library held its third Wonderfully Wild Wednesday at the MPL Express vending library on August 15. Library Manager Kim Boldt and staff have used the special events to bring kids and families together for fun activities such as tie-dyeing, camping and Miss Kim's Wacky Animals, all while connecting them to library resources. Last Bike Tune-Up of the Summer
The final bike tuneup session for the summer was held August 10th at the community gardens at Westlawn Gardens. The tuneups, hosted by the Westlawn Partnership for a Healthier Environment, CNI, DreamBikes, and Andrew Dressel, were a staple of the summer for bike enthusiasts throughout the neighborhood. National Night Out Brings Community Together
Hundreds of neighbors attended Milwaukee Police Department District 4's annual National Night Out on August 8th. The event is an opportunity for members of the entire district to congregate and have fun, enjoy free food, and learn about events and organizations in their neighborhood. Best Babies Zone Informational Meeting
The Westlawn Best Babies Zone (BBZ) initiative held an informational meeting for community stakeholders on August 1 to begin strategizing ways to improve healthy birth outcomes and reduce racial disparities in infant mortality in the wider Westlawn neighborhood. Celebrating Smoke-Free Housing
Westlawn Gardens and all public housing across the nation are now smoke-free following a rule implemented nationally by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on July 30.
