Westlawn Resident Relocation
Relocation of over 300 families from the west side of Westlawn was completed in November in preparation for the demolition of the old Westlawn buildings.
This significant task was started in 2016 and was facilitated by staff from multiple departments of the Housing Authority working together to ease the transition and to ensure each family found housing that met their particular needs. Residents had multiple options for their new homes, including: moving into other public housing, choosing a housing choice voucher, moving into the private rental market, and homeownership. As the new housing at Westlawn Gardens is completed over the next several years, the residents will have the option to return and become part of the new, revitalized neighborhood.
